Default Holes in fabric after taking out stitches

I just finished taking out a whole border of quilting. I wasn't happy with the result, I decided to change patterns. Of course, there are all those pesky little holes in the fabric. Is the any magic way to minimize the holes before I stitch another pattern?

The little holes should close when you wash the quilt.

As Gail B says, the holes will close over once you wash the quilt. Sometimes I might just dab a bit of water onto the spot and pat it with a cloth and that closes the hole too.

Unfortunately, the quilt won't be washed before I give it as a gift.

I'll try that. I thought about spraying it with water. It's about 60 inches of feather stitches. Boy, was that ever fun to remove! Thanks!

You could also dab it with a wet cloth. Try it on a little area to see if it works.

You can also toss it in the dryer with a damp towel. I do that to get the errand strings off.

Sometimes what works for me is to just "scratch" the fabric surface lightly with my finger nail, and it helps the threads shift a bit, to somewhat fill in the holes.

Keep in mind, that once you re-quilt it, it will be over what you have taken out, and chances are that will help to camouflage the holes that seem like craters to you right now!
