Has anyone ever froze granulated sugar?? Thanks

Although freezing is ideal for preserving many foods, it's not the best choice for granulated sugar. Sugar easily picks up off-odors that might be present in other frozen foods and can develop a musty taste. No, but we had to put some in the fridge for a while. There was no room in the plastic container we use, and the ants could smell it.

I keep mine in the fridge in the back. in another fridge, it froze and no problems.

Why not put it in a glass jar - with a lid - or a tupperware/or tupperware-like container?

I try to keep granulated sugar "dry" so it does not get hard and clump up.

I don't remember ever having bugs in sugar.

Flour and other grain products will sometimes grow livestock.

I am curious too as to why you would want to? If you are having ants get into it, just put in a plastic or glass container. Sugar will keep indefinitely if stored in an airtight container. Personally, I would not want to waste the freezer space for sugar. However, I do keep flour and cornmeal in the freezer as they can and do attract bugs!
