I just made these two toppers, 19"x26" and 22". My question is about what price to put on them. I have never sold any of my quilting items and have no clue about what price to put on for them to sell.
The money will go for a man who has cancer that is now in his bone. His wife is missing a lot of work, hence the benefit on the 19th.
We live in a small farming area and do not want to give them away but really need them to sell.
Any help in pricing is greatly appreciated.

I have never sold any of my items but just wanted to stop and say, it is very nice of you to make these for your friend.

I like them both. I'm suggesting that you sell them for double the cost it was for you to make them. That will cover your fabric, thread, batting, electricity, and time consumed. I realize that YOU won't be getting the money for them, but it's still a guide as to how much to charge for them. Good luck.

I like your idea, but I think I would make it 2.5 times cost. You can go down on price, but never up. People attending a benefit know that they are there to give to someone else, so ought to expect to pay a bit more.

grmamrtha1, that is where my issue is--working from my stash, been quilting since the mid-80's. I have NO clue as to what the cost of fabric should be. Am using up odds and ends of warm/natural batting and white fabric left from dye days.
I also made another set this afternoon, about the same sizes as the first ones, totally different fabric. Again more stash fabrics.
Do not know how to add that photo to this reply but it is navy with roses and a lacy type ribbon print and a lighter strip. I really like this set better than the first, for the colors.

How nice of you to make these for the benefit. They're beautiful. You could just figure out how much fabric you used and multiply by $10. Then add something for batting, thread and whatever.

Your toppers are nice. It is really good of you to donate for this cause. I think you should consider that most fabric is about 12 dollars a yard. I would not quibble that it cost you less in 1990 because you probably paid market value then. Your stash is worth market value to you because that is what you would have to spend to replace what you used. Besides, you want to get the most money you can for the man!!!

I see one similar to the small ones listed at $45, now I have an idea to what others would charge.
