So nice to have those 1st quilts. I started quilting about 15 years ago and my 1st quilt was the Trip Around the World. It looked terrible so never had it quilted until 2 years ago. The LongArm Quilter did a fantastic job on it and now I love it.

MadameKelly- I think your first quilt is really sweet! It has that vintage look to it.

Thanks for sharing. First quilts are the first step on this wonderful journey. Mine was a brick pattern, a scrappy made with red and yellow ginghams and primary colored calicos for our daughter...made in the mid seventies. It too was tied and used an old blanket for batting. The backing is a 60" wide piece of gingham and finished using the envelope method. My grand daughter has it now. The next quilt was made out of blue flannel scraps for our son in a double 4 patch pattern. Also tied...it wore out..a good sign of a well loved baby quilt.

I think its beautiful - the colours give it a soft, country-cottage look. What a treasure.
The first quilt that I made was a baby quilt for a friends daughter. Pinwheels with a prairie point border - I was so happy with it, it was a real wrench to pack it up and send it away. Part of me wishes I'd kept it - but I know that my friend appreciates it, so it has gone to a good home where it will be loved - that makes me feel a bit better
