Default Quilt blocks with 7 pieces?

Can anyone think of any blocks that have 7 pieces in them? With the New Year, I知 thinking about doing a project that would be a daily record of some aspect of my year - weather, the garden maybe - I知 considering various ideas. Even a small block a day would produce a very big quilt, so I知 wondering about a block per week. I致e found crazy blocks with 7 pieces in them, but are there any others? Obviously it痴 an awkward number to work with!

use a 9 patch, but take the 3 on one side and make it one solid piece. a friend made a quilt this way and it looked great

Good idea! Thankyou. I think the answer will be to do something like this, either combining pieces into 1 or splitting some to make a total of seven. Will give this a go and see how it looks.

There used to be a block of the week group here or a BOM...not sure. No sending to others, just do a block and post pic of it.
I would do a Block of the Week or a BOM like that if they had another on here. It helps hone your skills w/o worrying if it's good enough to send to others. (I worry about that).
Methinks there was also a Project of the Month group. Would be great for making Xmas gifts.
Anyone interested in hosting any of these? I'm not an organizer but might be an idea for someone on the QB.

I finished one that had 7 fabrics quite awhile ago. It was 'Inferno' by Mari Martin for Connecting Threads. The block finished at 10", and was very easy to put together. I will try to add pic...sorry didn't work.

There is the 7 Sisters quilt block, which doesn't have 7 pieces but is 7 stars which could be pieced on a neutral background.

You could do any direction of strip blocks (diagonal, horizontal, or vertical or any combo) and use the direction of the strips to form the overall quilt design.

Does it have to be a square block? I saw an intriguing 60 degree triangle block that you make using the 10 degree ruler. It is called the Magical Triangle block from Fresh Quilting on YouTube. It has 7 pieces.

You could always do a log cabin block. The center would represent what you did on Sunday, the next log Monday, and so on.
