Purple Scrappy Stars is quilted
This is a commissioned wedding quilt. The scrappy centers are from a huge basket of scraps. I already made a multicolored queen size with a black/ white checkerboard border and I still have a red/white/blue set of scrappy blocks. This project used four scrappy squares of mostly purple in center of stars. The background is gray, which seems to play very nicely with purple. I ended up adding 3 inch piano keys in various shades of purple, which were completely different purples than the centers. The border had lots of batiks, I think the border colors are more vibrant, or my preference for batiks is showing. The final measurement was 99 x 99 inches I did the piecing and sent it out for LAQ. I let the shop owner pick the thread to quilt with and I am so glad I let her, she picked a variegated thread that has teal green in i,and I did not believe it was the best choice. Sometimes, you just have to let go and listen to a professional, she knew what she was doing. The thread really pops on the purple borders, the backing is a warm golden beige in grunge fabric, it really lets the quilting show. I have some gray and purple scrappy centers left, which I am going to use to make matching pillow shams. The person who requested the quilt loves purple, so she asked for her favorite color. Now that she has seen it, is having a hard time letting it go. The pictures do not do it justice, the colors are very rich and deep purple.
