Default so close and yet so far FW

There was an estate sale close to my house. So close that I could have carried the featherweight home or maybe a 99 if they had had one. . When I saw the $500 price tag on it I didn't even open up the box to see what came with it. Perhaps another day.

Ouch, that's way too much money! Probably best not too see it; it might have been too much to say no to!

You should have checked it out and left a bid - they may have marked it just to see if anyone would bite at that price. I think it is a common practice to barter at such sales.

You have more will power than I would. I would have at least looked. It is unlikely, but it could have had a penguin foot or maybe one of those fancy embroidery attachments.

That's what FW are going for in my area also. It seems that people look up the ebay price and choose the most expensive one to price their machines. I too would walk away.

I’d look it over and give an offer and leave my name and number. Also return later in the day. You never know.

I saw a beat up FW at a flea market for $450 a few years ago and asked the vendor why it was so expensive. He gave me this story about how old it was and it couldn’t be replaced, etc. I still passed it up. Bought another one for $250 a few years later at same flea market. Needed some work, but hey...

Sold at 25 % off. Not to me and that's OK.

Well, I'm going to say this -- I love my FW for piecing, but I don't love it that much! That price is way way too much. My son found mine at the local Good Will store for $50. No case and no attachments, but the price was sure right!
