Default Polka Dot Quilt

My brother-in-law is dealing with cancer, so I made him this quilt. My son thinks the polka dots are feminine, but it's also meant for my sister-in-law too, who is going through so much also, dealing with her husband's cancer. I don't think polka dots are particularly feminine! I like piecing the backs of my quilts, and I was so lucky because the back is perfectly centered! I have a Handi Quilter longarm, so one never knows how centered the back is going to be while it's on the machine. - Nancy

Great looking quilt and nothing overtly feminine about it at all. Those are more 'spots' or 'speckles', than polka dots, IMO. Polka dots are all the same size and usually evenly spaced. Yours spots are random.

All he needs is some X and O beanbags and tic tac toe can be played on the back!

I think it is a very nice quilt and hopefully it will give them both some comfort. The backing is very pretty too. So sorry to hear of their medical issues.

On first look, I didn't see polka dots. I had to zoom in and see the dots, and agree with sewbiz, they're more spots, so not feminine. (I made a pillowcase once which I thought would go to a boy because of the main fabric, but my daughter looked at the cuff and quickly said, "Uh, Mom, polka dots are feminine." ) So, I will reserve polka dots for girls and random spots for either boys or girls.
