Default Needle clamp w/thread guide

Have a Bernina Bernette 60. It came without the needle clamp. Have looked online and have not been able to find one. Hate to junk the machine as she seems to run really good. Does anyone have or know where I can get one or if any other would work on this machine. It doesn't look like the high dollar ones I have seen for the higher end Berninas. Thanks for any info you all can give me. Have emails out to sewing machines plus and sewing parts online, but haven't heard back from them yet.

Howdy, Neighbor! I'm looking at a picture of a Bernette 60, and I'm trying to figure out who made it. Maybe it's a Riccar? The middle age Bernettes were made by Brother, and the current Bernettes are made by Janome. So you might have better luck looking for a brand other than Bernette or Bernina. I'd bet if you went to any sewing machine tech between Rexburg and Logan, we could find something in the boneyard for you.

Thanks for your reply. It does look like a very simple needle clamp such as on a brother that I have. I was down in Logan yesterday, should have taken the machine with me.

Here's another idea... You might be able to find a machine at D.I. for $5 to $10, that might have the clamp you're looking for.

I just looked it up on Brewer Sewing Supply and it's made by Brother. The retail on it is $19.50. The part number is XZ0001151. Here's the description: NEEDLE CLAMP ONLY Brother XL5232 XR46. It fits on all of these different machines.

Babylock B15, B17, B21, BL37, BL6300, BL6800, - Bernette 50, 60, 70, 75 - Brother PS21, PS3700, PX100, PX200, PX300, XL5010, XL5011, XL5020, XL5021, XL5030, XL5031, XL5100, XL5130, XL5230, XL5232, XL5300, XL5340, XL5500, XL5600, XL5700, XL6040, XL6050, XL6060, XL6452, XL6562, XR46, XR52, XR65, XR65T, needle clamp only (other parts sold separatly to complete needle clamp #XZ0002051 needle clamp screw, #XA5718051 needle clamp pin, #XZ0005050 thread guide, #012400432 thread guide screw) - Alternative numbers 502030.55.80, 502030.61.45, 502030.63.10, XZ0001051, XZ0001121

Good Luck to you! If you can't find one, send me a private message, and I could order it for you.

Hello catsden,

Did you ever find the right needle clamp for your Bernette 60?

I know it has been awhile, and things may have changed. The referrals to online sources were dead ends for me since I am looking for the entire needle clamp unit with the thumb screw, one that matches the one in the owner’s manual for that series of Bernette models. The only one I saw which looked like it might be right is currently sold out. I do not want a substitute with a regular screw, or one that might not be compatible with the automatic needle threader on the Bernette 75.

What happened in your search?

Okay, I looked at the manual again, and the needle clamp of the Bernette 75 takes a regular screw, not a thumb screw, after all. The picture on page eight of the manual has a disk behind the screw that made it look to me like a thumb screw at first glance. The rest of the pictures and drawings confirm it is a regular screw. So, it appears Brewer carries all of the components. Thank you, quilted sunshine for the parts numbers and the lead. Since I would rather purchase the whole unit than five separate items, please let me know if/where the whole unit may be purchased as one item.

It looks like I am talking to myself, but in case someone else is looking for a new needle clamp for a Bernette in this series, or one of the listed Brother or Babylock machines, and they do not wish to pay $40-$50, Sewing Parts Online does list these parts for less and the public may purchase there, (thanks Mindless for the idea, and my Bernina technician for the assembly number).

Everything but the needle guide can be purchased as one assembly (to be assembled) regularly for $22.99, now only $19.99, and the needle guide for regularly $4.99, now only $3.99. I actually got an additional discount. I ordered other things, too, and my shipping was free. This is what I ordered at Sewing Parts Online for the Bernette 75 and what I paid with the discount:

Needle Clamp Assembly, Brother Item # XZ0001051AS $16.99
Thread Guide, Brother Item # XZ0005050 $3.39

So $20.38 seemed like a very good deal! By the way, this needle clamp comes with a ridged thumb screw which is consistent with the Bernette original. The individual parts of the needle clamp may be purchased separately at Sewing Parts Online, too.

I did try to find a machine for salvaging parts, but no luck there. My Bernina tech did not have the parts in his boneyard, either. So I am very happy to have found these parts, new!
