Default Busy Quilt

Hi! Anyone have any ideas on how I could hand quilt this busy quilt? Thanks!

Pretty quilt, but you are right it is busy and no quilting will really show so I would do an end to end, like a pantograph. If doing yourself on a domestic it all depends what your confidence levels are. An all over meander is always super easy. So is an all over grid (cross hatch, diamonds, etc) and can be done with a walking foot. IMHO you can never go wrong with the Baptist Fan design. It seems to play nicely with just about any quilt and always looks good.

If you are hand quilting, I would do large X’s through each block since you could quilt straight lines. Less knotting and it is easier to hand quilt on the bias in my opinion.

Lots of florals in the fabric. If you can work out a real simple flower and leaf edge to edge design that might play well. What is the backing like? What thread color and type will you choose?

I'm so sorry, I missed where you said hand quilt.

Quilting design is always my stumbling block. Much less handwork! So more power to you.

I like the idea of some sort of rose/flower in each block, maybe a diamond lattice in the sashing to echo that diamond shape in the middle of the block.

It is going to be largely lost but if you know to look for it, you will see it. I'd probably use a golden to camel to jute color thread.

The backing is the same blue floral as the sashing and border. I haven't thought about tread color yet. The camel to jute color Iceblossom suggested sounds interesting though.

I would recommend either a Baptist Fan, or straight diagonal lines, about 1 - 1.5" apart.

If you want the quilting to show on both front and back, you might choose a light grey or pale blue. I would trace a simple primrose in each block, and straight lines in the sashing.
