Default Problems with machines...not sewing ones!

I admit that fixing machines of any type is not my talent. No skill whatever!

I have a Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner that's supposed to shampoo carpets and I know other people use them without problems. This one isn't the first one I bought over the years and all of them and I have not seen eye to eye. They work twice or three times and then refuse to suck up the water!

I just spent almost 4 hours on my hands and knees taking this one apart... down to the motor, and cleaning it, bending it, talking to it! When I put it back together with only one tiny part and 2 screws left over,.... it still doesn't pick up any water... at all!

Any one have any ideas for this bewildered little old lady? Does anybody have experience with this mechanical beast!!?!

I've had the same experience with those machines working 2-3 times then quitting. While it's nice to have one handy to use at a moment's notice, I've decided just to rent the ones at the grocery store. They do a better job IMHO.

it won't hlep you this time, but a camera used to record the disassembly can help get things back together.

I have one of those . This may sound stupid, but are you sure you have it set on floor cleaning and not above floor cleaning? If the knob is on above floor it won't suck up water from the floor. I have a vacuum cleaner that is the same way and I don't know how many times I have forgotten to put the knob in the floor position and it won't pick up anything . I never use the steam cleaner for anything except floor cleaning so I don,t have that problem.

I hate problems! Have you tried calling their help line? I had a relatively new vaccuum cleaner and called about something. The person on the phone knew how to exactly walk me through the problem to get my machine going again.
