    Default found my gem today

I live on Long Island. My son and i took a ride out east today.I told him to look for diamonds in the rough. we cked out jewelry, and it was all fakes. i went into one place, My son was typing on an old fashioned typewriter. I tld him when it dinged, he had to manually return the carriage. he was doing pretty good. Then i saw "HER". she was on the floor. i asked the guy how much. I had to ask him twice. it's a 201, from what i can see. i got it for $20. I just wanted it in my car before he realized what he sold.
get this... he was going to cut it in half to make bookends! He has 2 more at home too. I may buy one as a gift for a friend. The shop owner said he just put $40 into it to get it cleaned and oiled and running. I said i'm sorry, but that's not my problem. I only have $20, and he took it.

so, did I get a good deal?

Do a search on the Ismacs Singer identification site. You can find the serial number listed and it will give you the date of manufacture and model number.

Quite the deal, Lynnie! You should buy a lottery ticket. I think you're on a winning streak

$40 would have been an absolute steal.

Yup, you did good. If it is a 201 you're in for a treat. Those 201s are work horses.
