I only use color catchers on all new fabrics and finished quilts. Our clothes never fade, too old to bleed.

, I'd contact the mfg over that fabric that is still bleeding. It should stop after a couple of washes. I usually put reds, purples and dark blues in my kitchen sink and pour boiling water over them the first wash. Then put them in the washer w/the CC and wash until it stops bleeding. So far so good.
With everything being made in foreign countries, we have no idea of what is happening, as we have no control over the product anymore. Yet we're paying higher prices every day.

Just for safety sake I use one until it comes out clean.

Can't find my color catcher and am in need of a new one and went online (Amazon) to look for them (didn't find in local stores) and find that there are a several brands of color catchers Shout, Ruillisen, and Carbona and a few others listed at various quantities and prices. Is one any better than the other? The last color catcher I purchased was a microfiber type cloth that was reusable and Carbona still makes a multi-use large cloth. But I see there are others that come packaged 20, 32- 40 etc. per box.
Was curious about the single use ones similiar to dryer sheets. I only use a color catcher when washing a finished quilt or yardage that may bleed.
What kind of color catcher do you use and how are your results?

In addition to looking at the color catcher, how about looking at the water? Is it colored or not?

There use to be a detergent that had color catcher in it. Purex I think. It was on the market for a short time and now I can't find it anywhere. It was great for washing fabric.

I loved the original fabric Dye Magnet and did many tests using it versus terry cloth and other things. Since I can't find them any more, I was forced to switch to using the Shout Color Catchers -- they do just fine for a one use product. Box just sits up with my drier balls and the Bounce sheets hubby uses.

I do a test prior to working with any fabric that I suspect may bleed - reds, blues, dark colors etc. and that is where I can see the water. If the water is colored in the test, I wash it alone in the machine and test outside the machine until the water is clear or just don't use that fabric. Once in my machine, no way to see the water. So for safety sake and other obvious reasons, I use a color catcher when washing a finished quilt.
