There is a system out there called "geofencing". If you have a smartphone and drive through the fence, you start getting robocalls from the company that set up the geofence. The only way I can figure out how to stop those robocalls is to turn off the phone as I drive.

Thanks for heads up. The scam message I remember the most was left while my phone rang while I was unloading Costco groceries in a deluge of rain and was getting ready to drive home. I am still getting my bearings in my new community. I get in the car, glad to be out of the pelting rain to hear an ominous voice tell me if I don’t call back now the police will be sent out to arrest me and lock me up. So many things were giveaways it was a scam but it was distressing and annoying.

The part that troubles me the most is that it is proven that as people get older they are more susceptible for a variety of reasons to scams. Obviously they get enough positive hits or they wouldn’t keep doing it.

I got a weird call the other day from Australia. They left a voice mail so when I checked it the place changed to somewhere in Texas. And the voicemail was empty.

My mom received a check from Publishers Clearinghouse, $7000+. Looked so legit that I took it to the bank teller.

It was fraudulent, and she told me that if it had been deposited, the accounts would be frozen.

If it's too good to be true...

My favorite robocall is the one that shows up as my home number. I let the answer machine get it and it's one of those calls that said Microsoft on your computer is down loading a virus right now as we speak and I need to let the take over my computer.

I got one from the Chinese Consulate yesterday. They said they were waiting for the documents I needed to sign to release the funds they were holding for me.

So far the people who say they owe me money, but haven't sent it:

Christopher Wray
Melania Trump
Bill Gates
Several FBI people
a few Nigerian Princes

If they would just pay me, I would be set for several lifetimes.
