Default 201 graduated needle plate

I replaced the unmarked needle plate with a graduated needle plate on my 1954 Singer 201-2 with no problem. When I tried to install graduated needle plates on my 1950 Singer 201-2 and 1948 201K, it felt like the feed dogs were trying to "push" the needle plate. I even tried taking the graduated plate off the 1954 to see if that plate was thinner or cut differently, but it still didn't work on the 1950 and 1948 machines. Does anyone have any idea why there would be a difference? Could the feed dogs be higher on those machines or something? I like the idea of having the graduated plate for sewing, but won't use one if there's a risk of damaging the machine. Thank you in advance for any ideas.

I have been thinking about this too. I would like to have a graduated needle plate on my 201-2 as well. I have a graduated feed plate on my 15-125 that I am going to try on my 1941 201-2. I will post when I have results. It might help you figure out if it is an older model thing, or just something about your specific machines. I have been considering buying a new plate for my 201-2.

About 10 years ago I bought a new marked throat plate for my1936 201k-4, it worked okay; however the markings were about 1/8" off.

Sew Classic sells a set of clear labels with the graduated markings. I make sure to attach them carefully to only the needle plate, and not to the black finish.

Thank you for the tip. These are out of stock at Sew-Classic.com right now, but I have bookmarked it and will keep checking back to order. It's worth a try.
