I honestly have made many quilts that not even I could love, ha-ha. But if I had made this purple quilt, it wouldn't be one of them. I think it's lovely and really fantastic for someone who adores purple.

Ha! Well, I'm sure not every style appeals to every eye...that's for sure. I've certainly got an oddball or two kicking around - things that I started just to 'play' with color or technique. Really, it's of value just for that sake. If no one loves it, meh. I can use it and enjoy. I'm admiring your work on that bargello though...great job!

Yes I have and I have also made one or two that even I didn't care for. It is sort of fun to watch everyone struggle for words when they first see a real bummer, especially after I gush over it like it is the most beautiful quilt I have ever made. Wicked of me I know, lol.

Oh, that is rather wicked! But fun.

Yes, that was me before the so-called “modern quilt movement” happened. I’ve always liked bright colors and wonky layouts. When the modern quilting thing happened, my quilting friend said “Lori, it’s your style!”.

Oh yeah, I've loved quilts others would not appreciate. A few years ago, when I first started quilting, I bought a half finished quilt in an online estate sale. I may have paid $5.00 for it, I really don't remember. It was a challenge, to say the least. It had been strip quilted. It was red, white and blue. It was too narrow to be a nice quilt, and there was no way, as a new quilter to fix it. Still, I loved it.

I took it apart. I added squares. It was crooked, and when I finished, it was more crooked. I added borders. However, I didn't quit. I liked that quilt. It reminded me of one of my Aunts. She loved flashy things and red was her favorite color. I was a pallbearer at her funeral, where I wore a red dress. It's my "Aunt Shorty" quilt. I love it.

Some quilts just speak to you.

We had a saying in the 60s "Different strokes for different folks". If you like it that's all that matters. Having said that, if you decide you don't like it, I LOVE purple and could give it a good home.

You just gave me an idea for my daughter. She loves purple and this would be perfect for her. Actually I really love it. And I’m not a purple person!
