Default Janome Memory Craft 6600 - Thread Cutter

I’ve have my 6600 for a little over a year. Today it started cutting the thread too short. If you use the thread cutter, the thread will pull out of the needle when you start to sew again. I’ve tried everything and can’t seem to fix it. Any ideas?

This may sound obvious, but are you sure you have the bobbin in the right way around?

my apologies if you have already tried or considered any of the following:
have you checked the user manual to see if there is a setting you can change?

have you started using a different (heavier) weight thread in the bobbin?
is it just on your current project, or does it happen no matter what you are working on?
i ask those two questions because it might be a top tension issue. if the machine is "holding onto" the thread too tightly, it will stretch just a wee bit and then spring back when cut.

those might be wild ideas, but thought i'd throw them into the mix.

I always say when all else fails, re-thread from the beginning and change the needle! And yes, even a brand new/just recently replaced needle can have a flaw.

I recently had that problem with my 6500, also the machine was making a louder than usual noise when I sewed. I brought it to my repair person and he said it was the clutch and he made adjustments It's all fixed now. Thread cutter works great now

You might want to check your manual as to how the bobbin goes in. I have a Janome 6600 MC and the bobbin will only work if it is in with the thread going to the left. Hope I explained this right. Also, as I am sewing yesterday all of a sudden my machine decides to act up and gives all sorts of trouble with nesting thread in the bottom and many things went wrong-long story short-I re-threaded, changed needles and put a new bobbin and all is well and working smoothly again. Also, my tension was off. Good luck to you
