Default Sarah's Birthday 2020

I just finished this quilt that was made from a panel that I bought many years ago. I surrounded the panel pieces with spool blocks and lots of white borders. The backing is newprint fabric. This is going to the BFF for her birthday this year for a couch quilt. Her other couch quilt is wearing out.

I did this at the same time I was dealing with buying a new house. I wanted to get it finished before I had to pack up my sewing room for the move. Of course, Murphy's Law rules, and I had to rip out half of the quilting because of tension issues. It never pays to let your sewing machine know that you are in a hurry! My brain was so fried that I couldn't think of a name to put on the label so it became Sarah's Birthday 2020. It's in the mail (phew!), and now I can think about packing.

This is one very beautiful quilt!! How stunning and the borders and quilting is perfect for this quilt. I love the backing fabric. This makes a all around perfect quilt. Thanks for sharing.

That's a very clever border with the spools. Beautiful quilt!

Very pretty quilt. Love the spool border you put on-it really adds a nice finish. Lucky friend to receive such a nice BD gift.

Just lovely end result. You did a great job.

I am very drawn to the spool block. Have not sewn one.

Are the spool blocks on your border paper pieced?

Thank you!

No, I didn't paper piece it... I drew it out on graph paper and sewed it together. (see attached picture) My blocks finished at 5 inches.

The simplicity of a panel meets a beautiful design and quilting. You created a fabulous quilt!
