Default Double cord singer 301 help needed

I just purchased my first 301. It came with a vintage single plug cord controller. (Only one plug goes into the machine with one wire from that plug going to the wall socket and a second wire coming out of the plug going into the controller.) My 400 series machines had two cords. One to the wall, and one to the controller. My 301 does not have the lower plug on the base for the controller. Is there any kind of adapter that will allow me to use my existing foot controllers on the 301? I want to try different controllers to see what works best. Thanks

Welcome to the board. You can switch controllers by removing the current one and wiring the one that you want to use. I know of no adapter.

I'm going to have to agree with pennycandy. I'm fairly certain that you can use the single controller plug from the 301 on the 400 series machines. There was a 301-1 that had two plugs like your 400 machines, but the 301-2 only has the single cord plug. So in order to use the controller from 400 machines, one would need to unwire it from the plug wire and rewire to the 301 plug wire.
