Backing goof up big time...lol

Making 3 lap quilts for little girls and using flannel sheets for backing. Need the warmth in WI. Using pool noodles and Elmer's glue to baste. Got it all done. Set it aside to dry. DH said... did you notice you have the backing on wrong. It's wrong side out. Oh my God. What to do now? Other two quilts were done the right was. Backing on third quilt is all cream colored. Thought about it for a couple hours. Decided to applique hearts on the back.

It wasn't a goof up. Just say you did that on purpose, or don't point it out. They probably won't notice it.

Just wet the fabric and the glue will un-do.

I actually did something like that on a quilt backing. I decided that I liked the 'wrong ' side better. However, I did not have an option to change my mistake so I was really happy with the error.🌞

If you used Elmer's school glue, I would toss it in the washer on a delicate cycle. It should separate, then you can fix your whoops.😚

I've done that on purpose because the wrong side of the fabric looked better than the right side with my pastel quilt. Here's a pic of 2 different quilts with the same backing fabric, one right side out, the other wrong side out.

I just did the gentle cycle with only water on a quilt and it worked fine. If your batting has scrim it will make it through okay.

I would have to un-glue it and turn it over. Right side of fabric has a smooth feel, wrong side has a rougher feel. Both sides look different. I learned this in Home Ec. 62 years ago.
