Default Jack Dempsy cross stitch squares

I was wondering how do I quilt these squares without messing up my embroidery? Thank you

Are you going to quilt by hand or use your sewing machine?

You could stitch around the embroidery and then cross-hatch the background.

When I did them there were blue dots on the fabric to follow for quilting. What pattern do you have? The ones I did were cross stitch butterflies and another was flowers using the daisy stitch. I had other to do but finally gave them away. There ware fun to do, but I wasn't making them so finally realized someone else might enjoy them.

Cross hatch is like this...imagine a quilt all made of two inch square's. Quilt (sew) a line from corner to corner going from top left to bottom right and then top right to bottom left. The design forms an X, until the quilt is completely quilted.

When I make a hand embroidery quilt, I echo stitch in the background color around the image. If the image is too large and needs a little quilting to secure the batting, I will find a place to quilt thru the image, either a horizon line or ribbon, somewhere it is barely noticeable. Baby quilts get a lot of washing, I think they need reinforcing.

I've done cross hatch quilting on my embroidery quilts. I used white thread and just went over all the designs. I machine quilted it. The stitches don't show at all.

I'm nearly done with my 50 state bird and flowers quilt blocks. Then I was going to sew a sashing around each, then join them. Hadn't thought about quilting on the embroidery. Generally I don't. I just quilt around it.
