Default Sewmor Deluxe ZigZag 939 Question

My husband brought me this gem home that he found on the side of the road, it was very dirty and hinge on cabinet was broke, I cleaned it up, got a new belt and replacement cabinet hinge ordered. My question is the cams were missing. What machine is this a clone of? And are the cams universal? If so which ones should I look for...I've searched and so far have found no other sewmor 939 models listed anywhere.

Welcome, Majik68. It is not a clone, but it is a Japanese class 15 machine. In other words, it uses class 15 bobbins and 15x1 needles. It probably has a JA and/or a JC number, which could be stamped or cast on the underside of the machines. There is a nice long thread about Japanese zigzag machines at Vintage Japanese 'Badged' Zig Zag and Straight Sew Sewing Machines

As seen in the linked thread many of the same machine can have different names on them. I did see that there is a Viscount 939 that looks like yours. I searched through http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine...g_Machines.htm and found Deluxe Zig Zag #89 http://www.sewusa.com/Deluxe%20Zig%2...uDeluxe18b.jpg While it is not exactly like yours, I think that it is probably close enough. I don't know if the manuals would have good enough details to find the cams for your machine. I do know that I have found cams for my Miracle that will also work with an Elgin and probably a Dressmaker as well. Unfortunately, the cams that can be found on etsy or ebay or elsewhere do not have which machines that fit.

Good luck on your search for cams.

Nice find. Post some pictures of the cam compartment with a ruler in the shots. Will need the shaft size, pin assignment and distance to the cam follower arm. That may help identify which cams may work.

Here are the pics of cam compartment, I have also included pics of the numbers on both the underside and along the side of bottom of machine if that helps any.

I hope this is ok to post. Another resource is a Facebook group called Sewing Machine Fashion Cams which you may find very helpful in identifying the cams you seek. No buying nor selling there, but awesome help identifying.
