Hi All. I saw the pattern for this in a Martha Stewart Mag a few years back (yes, I save them!) and decided to make one as a dedication to my dear friend.
Mollie passed away a year ago July and left the contents of her craft room to me, including these paper doilies that were her grandmother's.
I used over a hundred of them and battery operated "teeny" LED lights.
I gave it to Mollie's daughter and her husband so they would have something of her in their home at Christmas. (Last year they got my first quilt ever!) I figure if the doilies lasted this long, they will be fine.
I bought one of those neat, rubbermaid plastic wreath containers for it, too. Hangs on the wall and out of the way. Michael's had them for $20 on sale but I got mine at Target for $8.99!!

Thanks! I appreciate your kind words.
The idea was in Martha Stewart Living, December 2008.
It's pretty simple actually...take a wreath form (I wired two together with floral wire), spray it white and wrap evenly with Christmas lights (calls for 20 feet, so I got two sets of those "teeny" LED's) I velcroed the battery cases to the back of the wreath form and added a swivel D ring to hang with.
In Martha's, she used little paper bouquet holders (tussy mussies), I folded the doilies in quarters and poked a small hole in the bottom (before I poked, I laid a small piece of scotch tape there so it wouldn't tear through...anal!)
I just kept layering around the wreath form til it was covered evenly. I also dabbed a dot of acid-free glue at the base of the light on the final row for longevity.
Hope this helps! Have FUN!!
