Does your Guild/sewing group have a tradition to thank the President for her Service?
Each member makes a 12.5" unfinished block that is signed and dated. The theme and colors of the block are given to the members to make the blocks cohesive. At the Nov. meeting the blocks are gifted to the outgoing President. The fun part is seeing the blocks held up one by one.
Does your guild/sewing group have a tradition of thanking the outgoing President/Leader at the end of their service?

My group, about 50 members, does a money collection each year just before our holiday meeting in December.We don't have a president but a group leader who may stay in place for 10+ years. No guidelines or money amount requested from members. Strictly voluntary contribution. We have two leaders and split the collection in two and give them the opportunity to shop for what they want to add to their quilting studios, attend a workshop or to pick up that book or tool they have been longing for.

Yes, each member is sent afabric/directions and told to make a certain signature block. The blocks are signed and made into a quilt which is presented. Our positions are for two years. The president and treasurer are nominated one year and the vice president and secretary are nominated the next year. It works great to not have a brand new board each year.

My guild is very large. The second vice president is the chair of the group to make a quilt for the out going president. Usually the president keeps the job for two years unless circumstances prevents it. It's up to the group of volunteers to decide the design and fabrics for the quilt. One perk of being president is getting a beautiful quilt.

Our President serves for two years. At the Dec meeting of the last year he or she is presented with a quilt. It is made by volunteers in the guild who decide the design and colors. Sometimes the members are asked to donate fabrics or to make blocks depending on what is needed. It is always a bed sized quilt with the President’s preferences in mind.
