Default State Flower Quilt

Some time back I was looking for a way to place 50 state embroidered flower pictures into a quilt. There were many suggestions but while going thru some of my mom's things I found a quilt that she had made using my embroidered state bird blocks many years ago so I decided to use the same layout. I went to the internet to get a list of when each state joined the union and placed them in that order. I am very pleased with the way the quilt turned out. I used a muted cloud design-like soft blue for the backing. See picture below

Later in the month I found a beautiful mirror backed lit Pulsaki curio cabinet to store some of my favorite quilts in. It has two glass shelves. See picture below

The quilt is beautiful with that layout! I also like that idea for putting hilts in a display like that. The cabinet is lovely.

Lovely quilt and great cabinet.
Would love to see your Mom's "matching" quilt too.

Great idea for the chronological order of the blocks.
Maybe you'd like to add the year onto each block?

When I did a quilt for our BiCentennial, I did similar, but a maple leaf for each province/territory with the name and year included.

Beautiful quilt. The embroidery is exquisite and I can only imagine how long it took you to do all of those blocks. Congratulations on all of your work. I love the colors and the idea of putting them in the order the state joined the union.

My quilt cabinet ($30 from a thrift shop) is almost identical, except I chalk painted mine oatmeal color then distressed it.
I’ve seen gun cabinets redone for quilts too.
