Default Sleepy

Does anyone have any remedies for getting sleepy when you sew? Any product to eat or drink to give you energy? I normally am not a nap taker and don’t get sleepy in the daytime unless I am sewing!!

I don't get sleepy sewing. Sometimes I do about 5 or 6. I don't sleep during the day afraid it will keep me from sleeping at night.

I like to break up my tasks as it isn’t good to do any one thing too long. I cut, then sew, get up to press etc.

I'm with Tartan, I don't chain piece everything, press everything, trim everything. If I do, I get sleepy. I usually work in batches of 10 units.

And I'm with Tartan and Toverly. If I sit at the machine for too long, the old body starts to cramp up, so I sew a bit, get up and press a bit, then cut a bit, and sometimes even clean up a bit.

I agree with everyone, switching things up and I listen to audio books or music to help keep my mind occupied.

When I get sleepy it is usually due to allergies or just dry eyes. Maybe using some good eye drops will help. All the lint from fabric may be aggravating you more than you realize

Ha! I am retired, if I get sleepy I move myself over to my recliner and take a little snooze!

I sew for a bit get up and come to the computer for a little bit, then go in the kitchen for a while to break up my day this does keep me from getting to tired. Today I will add a visit from my sister to the day too. Breaking up my time helps when I get tired or when I just need to rest. This way I am more productive.

I tend to sew for hours at a time but I'm always listening to music or an audiobook. I don't get sleepy while sewing but sometimes in the evening we start a movie, I get all comfortable on the sofa and then fall asleep!
