Question Replacing Pfaff 1214 camstack -

Of course the $20 Pfaff from the sewing machine hoarder's yardsale needed repairs, but this is the kind i really hate and would have passed had i looked closer - someone already tried to "fix" it - obvious from the four chewed screw-heads on the automatic unit after i popped the top. I'm a Singer fixer, but mechanics is mechanics, so give it a go. Please folks, if you are going to fix your own machine, at least use the right tools, which for starts, means the screwdriver blade fits the slot snugly and doesn't slip and chew up the screw!

Seems the original problem with this machine is classic for Pfaff 1200 series - the left-side (closest to needle) camstack cracked, as usual, it must have, because It's missing. Along with the spindle/bolt/nut that goes throuh the center of the stack to attach it to the auto unit. and several circlips that hold the linkages together. My theory, Mr Fixit took out the broken part but lost the center spindle!

I NEED THIS CENTER SPINDLE!!!!! Circlips are easy, but this is a specific part that i'd rather not have to make. Any Pfaff fixers with a dead 1200 series have this that i could acquire? ANy ideas? I can't give up now, i already bought the $80 camstack. I have had NO luck looking for the spindle, it's not usually something that would break. Glad the camstacks are available, and if i have to, i can have something machined at my brother's metal shop......

I bought this machine because of previous experience with a 1222E, and loving the IDT, the easy feed drop, the rotary hook, etc....

(also have a 201, a White FR treadle and a 66-16 godzilla handcrank and several chrome Japanese HA-1 wonders)

TIA

I would be looking for a Pfaff group on groups.io or Facebook. That's the most likely place to find it.

Welcome to QB, Stella. Everything I've read say that the shaft is not included. Sometimes ebay have machines that they separate all the parts.

Some groups that might be helpful - https://groups.io/g/AllThingsPfaff or https://groups.io/g/OldPfaffPforum maybe even https://groups.io/g/WeFixIt

Have you tried https://brubakerssewing.com/ ?
