Default Numbers don't add up

Found 7 disappearing 4 patch blocks hilding in my stash, so decided to make more for donation quilt for Project Linus. Found formula online for corner and setting blocks since its a on-point layout. Have it all laid out on my design wall...and oh crap...I still have 7 blocks left over. Guess I'll be making another quilt, huh?

Ever happen to you or won't you admit it?

I am always one block short or several over. I have determined that I can not count:-) At least you have almost enough for another quilt.

Lena, I think I end up with OVERAGES when I really like the block I'm working on. Sometimes I do count up to 5 or 10 and then use Wonder Clips but then I find myself counting, counting, counting. So I just sew...lol

I have a bin just for orphan blocks as well as for cutoffs that come from sashing and border pieces that are when I stitch them together and trim off the corners. A couple months ago I found 8 orphan blocks from a quilt I made back 4-5 years ago plus the cuttings to make another one. Decided to make a small quilt for someone's dog as the blocks were the perfect colors to match his quilt I made years ago. Ended up making a couple more blocks to make it large enough using only scraps but it's great that I was able to use those orphan blocks. I'd totally forgotten I had them. I rarely throw anything out if large enough to use for something else.
