Default Need a new free sew-along??

Bonnie Hunter is releasing a new project starting Monday. It is her sharing of the current happenings in Gaza and features blue and white stars of David.

This is in addition/before the winter mystery fabric selection clue that comes out on Halloween.

Love that it looks like it's paper pieced. Thanks for posting.

It's a lovely pattern and she is incredible for being able to design it in just a day! Thanks for sharing with us.

The pattern has been revised but she can’t change it on her blog until tonight. Apparently some people felt the first design resembled swastikas .

Interesting - I thought the non-stars looked like ribbons or arms/fingers reaching to touch each other.

When looking at the "ribbon" block alone, I guess I can see what some people are objecting to/concerned about. Reading Bonnie's text and looking at the overall project, I rather like the "ribbon" block -- especially if made with 2 consistent fabrics to hold the scrappy stars together. I'm rather crunched for time right now and wasn't planning on the sew along, as I'm working on a Christmas themed string quilt before the mystery starts for this year. I'll print out the instructions and I drew up a ribbon block in case I come back to this project later.

Rachael at Quilted Twins sent out an email this afternoon. She and her twin sister have a German Jewish heritage and they feel complelled to help out in making bundles for Bonnie Hunters new project.

Shame Bonnie felt like she needed to change the ribbon block. That's what really drew me to the pattern. It made the whole quilt have movement and I really loved how she described her indented symbolism. I can't see how someone could see "swastikas" in the ribbon. I would have to be looking very hard to even attempt to see that. I might try to graph my own version of her ribbon blocks.
