Default Help finding a repairman

Does anyone know the name of the vintage sewing repairman in Merritt, Michigan? I have a Singer Redeye that I'd like to give away. It has to be within driving distance because shipping is too high.

I'm not sure what your "want" actually is. You say you want to find a repairmen, but you say you want to give the machine away.

Can you clarify what you want to happen?

There is or was a vintage dealer in this area. I thought I kept his name in case my Elna ever needed repair, but I don't have it. I want to start thinning my herd of machines and the first to go can be the redeye treadle(head only). I thought I'd offer it to him.

I don't know how to find that particular gentleman. However, I've had luck with posting on the victoriansweatshop.com. They have a section for swaps, for sale (I think) and free to a good home. I passed along machines that I no longer had interest in. They were the kind of machines someone who loved old machines would like. One was a hand-crank, one was an ugly featherweight, and one was a 15-91.

I posted them as free for pick-up. One went to Alabama (his brother picked it up) and two went somewhere in the mid-west to a young lady who was close-by helping her mom after a knee replacement.

That's my best suggestion.
