Hi, I'm new :)
Hello,
I scooted over here from Reddit where someone recommended this forum for fabric swaps. I see that newbies aren't eligible, but that's ok - I'm happy to have another place to share and watch creativity! I've been a quilter since my early 20s - which was MANY years ago! I tend to lean toward more modern quilts. I'm not really an applique fan and I'm afraid of sewing curves. LOL! I really want to try a picture quilt, though. My aunt lost her sweet pup a few months ago and I have ambitions to try to sew up that sweet doggo's likeness into a quilt for her.
Looking forward to mingling with you all!

Hi sondragon, Welcome to the QB! There are lots of friendly people with great advice on this board, although I am mostly silent and just read (I learn a lot that way). By the way, I lived in Kenosha for 5 years before retiring. Where do you live?

Welcome to the group. Yes, there are lots of swaps you can get involved with. Only a few that are long term have the requirement of previous swap experience. Join other swaps here or there and in no time at all you will be ready to join one of the long term swaps that caught your interest. There are so many gifted quilters here, knitters, embroiderers and just good folk who like to play with fabric. Lurk, put your toe in the water, and wander about to your hearts content and of course share your expertise!. You will find friends who don't like curves or applique and others who have it figured out. Welcome again!

I saw your post in the other thread and am glad to see you made your own. Welcome to the boards hope you stay and post and have some fun. I started quilting in my late teens which was also many years ago -- long enough that I had to use a calculator to subtract my high school graduation year from this year.
I've recently moved from the Seattle area to central Illinois -- yes, on purpose and because we wanted to. While I did cut my stash in roughly half, I still moved a lot because I tend to work in a scrappy style and with collections (which may or may not be evident). I don't have much in large pieces of yardage but I'm often willing to help with a bit of a strange collector request -- like why yes, I do believe I have a piece of fabric with purple dragons... I had a lot of fun swapping 10" squares back around Y2K and still have some of those around!

Hello! Thank you for the warm welcome! I’m in West Bend - about 40 minutes north of Milwaukee! Not too far from Kenosha!

Thank you all for the warm welcomes! I appreciate them all very much! I’m super glad to see there are some swaps for newbies too! I’ll keep an eye out. Even though I’ve been quilting for close to 30 years - eep - I have tons I could still learn so I’m looking forward to joining some conversations!

Welcome from Minnesota! I grew up in Fort Atkinson, WI and lived in Appleton for 5 years or so. I've been in MN for over 40 years now, but still considered myself a Wisconsinite for at least the first 30 years here.
There is so much talent and experience here on the Quilting Board that you are bound to find help and inspiration for whatever interests you. Have fun!

Welcome to the board. I'm going to host an "I Spy" squares swap after the holidays. I hope that interests you.
I believe newbies can participate in swaps, just not host them. I could be wrong, but I've not heard that newbies couldn't participate.
