Batting or not?
I have always used warm and Natural or Soft and Bright batting with Minky backing on my quilts. They are pretty but not cozy. Too heavy and stiff. So I’ve always wondered about either leaving out the batting all together or using fleece or flannel. I rent a long arm for quilting and would like to know if anyone has done this. Please tell me how to make a cozy quilt. Thanks.

There is a page that described the different types of batting and when to use them. https://www.favequilts.com/Beginner-...-Right-Batting

I have used Minky/Fleece on the back of a few quilts. I left out the batting. When I quilted, I chose an all over pattern that secured the pieced top over the seams. When they were washed, they became cuddly. Don't quilt too dense.

I've used fleece for backing on a couple of quilts and did not use batting. I quilted them on my home machine, not a long arm so I don't know if that makes a difference. They all turned out great and have been well used.
