Default QuiltCon 2024

I did not get to go to Quiltcon 2024 but a number of bloggers out there have put together some pictures to show us what was happening there. Here is my favorite of the ones I have seen so far:

The quilting goes hand in hand with the piecing in these beautiful quilts! I think I understand what "modern" is now!

Thank you for posting that link! Those quilts are such incredible works of art.

I wonder if any of the makers have ever been interviewed or blogged about their design process? These are clearly not run-of-the-mill pieced or appliqued designs, and the interplay of colors, shapes, and layout is amazing.

They are definitely works of art! I love looking at the colors and talent involved. I'm usually distracted by shiny objects. Thankfully no distraction this time...almost, but not quite. I have too many other shiny objects to finish!

These were two that caught my eye. The one on the right was approximately 15"x 18", it is pineapple blocks, and has over 12,000 pieces on it, unbelievable to see.
The one on the left appeared to be three dimensional, all with shading and shapes, again, very impressive to me.
I attended Jacquie Gering's lecture, this lady is very humble. She explained modern quilting during her lecture. Simplistic design, very little if any printed fabric, makes a statement, and simple quilting.
And, yes, we had to buy a bigger suitcase to get home, to much shopping at the vendor booths.😁

Stunning quilts. The color choices are impressive but what caught my eye the most was the quilting itself. So detailed and so consistent and precise. In addition, I enjoyed how some of the quilt artists incorporated traditional patterns or pattern elements to create an unexpectedly modern quilt.

I volunteered at one quilt con show to hang the quilts. One thing that I noticed was the quilts were stiff with the close straight line quilting. Definitely not cozy or snuggly quilts.
