Default bazaar item query, 1/2 pint mason jar cozy :)

I LOVE my little 1/2 pint wide mouth mason jars (4 fingers high) and currently I'm using them for a breakfast favorite, overnight rolled oats.
But they are hot coming from the microwave, and I want the oatmeal to stay hot while I savor it so got to wondering last night if there are cozies for them. lots of cute ones on etsy, crocheted and knit, some felted wool (not sure those would wash and wear?) and leather...not a fan of the price or washability. And on Amzon silicone ones. No heart and soul.

I hate making small projects and I gave away my crochet hooks.... do any of you make this size to sell? Sure takes me a long time to get to the point doesn't it

Or have a pattern you like and can share?
My Oatmeal: 1/2 cup rolled oats
    1/2 teaspoon brown raw sugar
couple drops of varied kinds of extract flavoring
3/4 cup 0% milk. Stir and let sit overnight.
nike for 30 seconds, stir, same again, once again if not quite hot.
top with 1/2 cup of berries.

I make 3 at a time and alternate with my homemade 0 fat yogurt and berries.

Hmmm. I would think you could just make a tube and sew access the bottom. Box 2 corners and pull them up to the outside and stitch in place. Does that make the same sense in your head as it does in mine?

Thanks for your recipe. Look up a video on YouTube for a tutorial from Carolina Moore. She shows how to make them any size. You do have to get to about the 10 minute mark to find how she measures for any size. She bought a template, which I think is unnecessary. There are many other videos that popped up when I searched. I hope you share your finished product!

I love mason jars and have them in several sizes. I also buy the plastic lids and have had them for many years. No rust!

Here are a couple of patterns for covers. The first two have a round bottom, so may be a little more difficult. The others have a square bottom and don't seem ill fitting.

Also, a video. She has a pattern you can buy, which is linked in the video, but I don't think you need it. It would be convenient, as all measurements given for different sizes. But not difficult to figure out without those. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m_KcxQe12o

I've decided to use a sock top... I just don't like making fiddly small projects. fiddly small blocks? YES

Sock top is a great idea. There is always a stray sock around.

ok, took me longer to thread the needle than it did to make the cozy... I left the ears because I'm a socklovin' childless cat lady.
this was just an peds ankle sock which fit perfectly with the foot folded over. I'll look for some fun ones

KalamaQuilts ... You "got me" with the childless cat lady and set me to wonder how many marketables have already started showing up in the good ol' USA with that slogan on it?? If not yet, surely they will come!

Haven't tried your overnight porridge yet ... but have it on the must-do list. Hopefully this weekend.
Love my oatmeal porridge and usually freeze it ready made ready to zap in the microwave.
So, am sure I will like your version!
