Piecing quilt backs
#1
I do work for others and am still getting my prices set. I have a lady that asked me to piece her backing together. Don't know what to charge for cutting and piecing. Have seen where back in 2009 the charge was $10 a seam and now the current pricing seems to be $20 per seam. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

How did you establish your other prices?
Have you taken into consideration how long it takes you to do every step?
And what that works out to per hour?
How much are you worth?
Are you charging fairly for both your customer and yourself?
And ensuring you are being paid a fair value for it?
It'd be best to establish an hourly rate for the "any other incidentals" sort of work you might do.
With a minimum charge.
That brings you back to .... How much are you worth?
Don't undersell yourself and the value of your work!

Is she simply asking you to piece the backing or piece it and then you quilt it for her? I mean if she can sew the quilt top together why can't she piece her own back? Doesn't make sense to me. Do I need more coffee this morning??
