I got some white wool / rayon blend to make die cut snowflakes. Do I need to felt it before I cut the fabric?

I've done wool applique before and have always washed the wool in hot water and dried it before uisng. Just remember how much it will shrink in the process.

I used a 80/20 wool/ nylon blend for wool appliqué and did not have to wash it. The wool did not fray. It was for a wall hanging and would not be washed often. And when I do, it will be hand washed in cold. I’d say, if it doesn’t fray and it’s not going to be washed often, to use what you have.
