I just quickly scanned through their ad. Do you know what format the machine uses for cutting? I'd want to make sure it's one that is readily available...i.e. svg or similar. I don't know all the formats for cutting machines. That's just the one I use and found thousands (hundreds...millions??) of files available. And check out if there is software to go with the machine.

Jeannie, what would be your intended use? Is this for card making or applique or?
I'd have to use it a Lot for that price and can't think of a use
My new Viking machine has the Sewnet stuff, but our connectivity here is very bad and I haven't gotten it to sign in for months. To update it I'd apparently have to take my machine, nearly 40 pounds, downtowwn for wi-fi... just throwing that out there in case connectivity is a problem where you are.

Kalama - This machine cuts fabric. The usual shapes are already programmed into the machine, and you can ajust them to any size.. Check it out on Youtube, Google or Amazon. I don't plan to buy it, even at the $399.00 price on Woot! I am just curious if anyone had purchased it and if they liked it. I think I am just fascinated by what it can do!

I'd never heard of this before mid-August. My thoughts -
1. if this has been out since sometime in spring 2024, why haven't we heard anything about it on other forums/blogs/advertising in magazines/etc.? First I'd seen of it was a post on another forum a couple of weeks ago, then a local-ish sewing center had a bit in their fall newsletter that they now carry it.
2. the "crafting library"...nothing about if this is a subscription, if you can download files to keep forever if/when the library disappears if the cutter is discontinued. Nothing about if you can use files from another source.
3. I did a short search for reviews & instructions - not much more than very basic "here's what came in the box" and very basic instructions on how to use, like maybe they were compensated reviews. Most "real" reviews were frustration about the lack of instructions on using it.
If I have time, I might stop in at the sewing center before QOV meeting on the 7th and see what's up.
For me, the answer to getting this is a big NO, not only due to cost, but for all the unanswered questions and lack of information.
