can anyone out there that has this machine tell me when you sew how does the feed dogs feel? I am having trouble with mine so I took the needle out and dropped the foot then did a pretend sew and I put my finger on the feed dogs and could barley feel them. Was trying to make some chair cushions and was having one heck of a time. So could someone please tell me if theirs is the same? Or do I need to take it in
Thank you.

I received my Janome for Christmas in 2011. A couple years ago I was having so much trouble feeding fabric through and began using my travel machine some instead. I was like you and checking on the feed dogs. I thought they needed adjustment. I finally decided they just need to be replaced after comparing it with my travel machine. It was inexpensive, since I ordered the part and my husband installed it. I was so surprised! It sewed like a new machine! I am sure that they had slowly worn down and wasn't noticed until it had gotten bad. I still find it hard to believe that fabric can wear down those metal teeth. I guess I sew a lot!

or perhaps you've hit the button/switch that drops the feed dogs and they need to be switched back up.
When mine don't feed right it's usually because they are full of lint felt
but if you've had your fingers on them it wouldn't be that.

Clean your machine, even if you don't think it needs it. My friend had a similar problem, her machine wasn't feeding the fabric, she kept having to force the fabric through. I suggested she clean her feed dogs. She looked at them and didn't think they were dirty. Thought something was wrong with the machine itself, so she took it in for repair. Guess what. The feed dogs were full of lint. It sewed just fine after that.
