    Default Singer 15-91 quilting help

I have a singer 15-91. I have been trying to do some free motion quilting with it, but when I set it up to do so it's not stitching. It won't pick up the thread from the bobbin. Any suggestions?

Just basics to start: presser foot down? Sews fine otherwise? Threaded correctly? Bobbin going in right direction?

I have a 15-91, love the machine but only do straight stitch sewing. It belonged to my mom, it was a wedding present from her parents in 1950. It has an embroidery attachment - I have to admit I have never used it. So don't know how it works. When I used the button hole attachment for the first time in 50 years, I almost went into hysterics laughing. I had forgotten how it throws the fabric back and forth. My mom was a great seamstress, so she used them.

What are you doing to "set it up" for free motion quilting? Are you saying that when you drop the feed dogs, it will no longer make a stitch?

To add: If your free motion foot is not close enough to the fabric and the fabric bounces, the bobbin thread will not connect.

Welcome to Quilting Board. When "It won't pick up the thread from the bobbin" for me, it is generally the needle is inserted incorrectly or I have threaded it from the wrong direction. I can generally get the bobbin threaded corrected.
