Default Black dust, metal dust Elna 3 Z

What is this black dust on the machine belt? It's also everywhere on the inside walls of the machine.

Should I clean metal dust from sanding before using the machine?

Apologies for my beginner-level questions! But I want to learn about sewing machines

The pictures you posted at Clean grease ir not? look cleaner than these. My guess would be that it may have something to do with the pulley that needs replaced that you asked about at Elna 3 Zig Zag 722010

Yep, it makes sense. So the thing is, while trying to clean the machine I broke some timing drive (I think, or) and had someone else fixing it. I suspect the person also sanded the pulley and the handwheel and did not clean any of the mess. The machine is working (again), but I don’t wanna mess up more with it before someone I trust checks the machine for me. I’m in Finland and don’t speak Finnish well enough to discuss machine mechanics plus it’s been hard to find someone that agrees to look at the machine. The saga goes on and on. It’s like getting one thing fixed while two others brake.
The plan is to get Archaic Arcane’s pulley kit and install it once the rest of the machine is eventually nicely cleaned.
😐

you may need a tiny vacumn to suck up that dust from all the cracks and crevices.
