If I preshrink my fabrics, can I mix flannel and non-flannel regular quilting weight fabric in a quilt? I'd like to make a baby quilt with regular cotton quilting fabric and make the backing from flannel. I'm wondering if these two fabrics would shrink at the same rate as the quilt is repeatedly laundered. Given that I've preshrunk both fabrics, I would think so. What do you think?

It's commonly done ... so, why not go for it?
Just be sure that all have been full shrunk before you start your project.
Remind yourself that flannels often need more than one wash in hot water, to get the full shrinkage.
