Default Fusible Fleece question

Fusible fleece - how permanent is the fusing? Does anyone here know?

I'm planning to use a double sided fusible fleece on a placemats that will get washed regularly. It will not be quilted. Will I have to worry that the fusing will let loose after a few washes?

Please let me know!

Thanks!

To be quite honest, I don't like it! I've tried it several times, placemats & tablerunners - after first wash, it bunched up badly, ruined everything I've used it on..You can press it til the cows come home and it will just bunch up again. I kept thinking one of these times it'll work, but NOT! I've always done it exactly how it said to do it. Items have always been quilted. The fleece just seems to come undone. I've used the Pellon brand and one from OESD, I'm trying to remember, maybe Florini. Anyway, my experiences have not been good. I just use batting, spray with the quilting spray & quilt, you can use reg fleece as a batting, too..Others may say how they like it, but this has been my experiences with it, I don't like it.. Good luck.. ;o)

One way to find out ....
Make one placemat with the same fabrics and fusible fleece as you will use for your project ...... then wash it several times (just add to every wash load you do)

Ah, yes. of course that could be done, but in typical lazy fashion, I was hoping someone here could answer for me without me having to do that!

I don't remember the outcome but after I used it once I knew I wouldn't use it again. That's all I remember telling myself, don't bother with it again.

I have a flannel quilt that was gifted to me that was made with fusible fleece. It's been washed many times and I haven't had a problem with the fleece bunching up. Other than that, I only use fusibles for purses and bags and not even often for those since I've discover soft and stable.

There are different types/kinds/brands of fusible fleece.
One may work totally differently than the other.
Your fabric and fusible fleece may be different to the products used by others.
Even your laundry/drying methods may be different too!

Thus, why I suggest, actually highly recommend, doing your own "trial", with what you intend to use.
