Finally got Kaffe Subdued quilted
#1
With family staying a week at Christmas, not to mention all the baking, wrapping and gift making, I didn't get this done until after the holidays. Then another wrinkle, my husband's brother was released from the hospital with congestive heart failure to live with us during his palliative care, so extra cooking with low sodium and limited fluid intake. We are all adjusting but I just didn't have the time to quilt lately. Hopefully as we get all his medications, Dr. appts. and diets figured out we will all have more time to enjoy each other and our hobbies.
I could have picked an easier quilt pattern like cross hatch, but I started with the wavy lines in the squares to give it more texture and had to continue. I had a terrible problem towards the finish as the humidity dropped with the colder temperatures and static electricity seemed to affect the bobbin thread (I use a polyester thread called Bottom Line from Superior Threads) and the border and backing were cotton sateen. I finally added an "extra" humidifier to the room and shut it up and quit for a day until the humidity rose a bit......which seemed to help.
