Default Viking Rose thread break warning is malfunctioning

At low speed, it stitches fine, but as soon as I step on the gas, it sews a few stitches and stops, beeps 4 times and the spool symbols starts blinking. Replaced the spool with a 110 yd spool of Gutermann and it still does it. Anyone have an idea what it is?

I saw it behind the counter at a Goodwill, and asked to see it. The clerk told me it was salvage and not for sale. She said someone returned it, saying it didn't work. We've all heard that, right? I asked if she'd sell it to me for 5 bucks, and she said sure. It didn't have a power cord, so I looked at the shape of the plug hole, and at the next store, I bought one for 99¢, with half off. So I have almost 6 whole dollars invested in it, lol.
