Default Pip Watch begins March 1 at Big Bear Eagle Nest

For all the bird lovers out there... There is a live camera at the Big Bear Bald Eagle Nest in California. The pair of eagles (Shadow and Jackie) are sitting on three eggs. They are going to hatch soon! March 1 starts the official pip watch. Here's the link:

Thanks for this interesting info. It's great to see the eagle(s) in the nest. Will be watching this one.

Two chicks have broken through their shell. They should be out within the next day or two.

One hatched out fully last night just before midnight. I suspect the second will be out of its shell this morning, too. The third egg is not due to have a pip for a couple more days if it was the third of the eggs that was laid. Everyone is waiting to see.

The chortling that the eagles are doing is so precious. The cheeps from the eggs are amazing. Modern technology is amazing. What a fun adventure to watch! I was glued to the screen all day yesterday. I went to bed long before the final break out. I've got some beautiful screenshots that are motivating me to try to commemorate this in a quilt. I just need to retire so I have time to create!

I tried looking last night, and it timed out. This morning, the same thing, so there must be a huge amount of “watchers” maybe?

I was getting booted out yesterday, too. FOBBV was excited because they hit 50000 simultaneous viewers. Just now it said 70000. Two beautiful puffballs still too weak to eat but Dad sure tried!

I'm not sure about that third egg...

I am so glad you're making it in to see! The two are getting stronger but are pushing on each other to get to the food. "Bonking" is what the FOBBV chat moderaters call sibling rivalry. Who knew? Apparently mice will climb up to the nest sometimes to eat the leftover bits. I haven't seen that happen yet. Still waiting for the third egg to pip.
