Default Featherweight

I have a couple of featherweights that I can’t keep a good stitch on them. I clean, oil, change needles after about 15 minutes the stitch looks terrible I’ve tried adjusting top tension, I’ve tried adjusting bobbin tension nothing I’ve done will give me a consistent good stitch. I have even taken it in for service they get a good stitch but it doesn’t last once I start sewing. Please any ideas!! Carly

I had similar tension issues on my 99K . It turned out that the shaft where the tension discs sit was loose. I just tightened it up and the tension has been fine ever since. I don't have a featherweight so I don't know what the tension disc assembly looks like or how it is assembled, but it might be something to look at.

It might be time to take it in to have it looked at by someone with featherweight experience. Go in with a full history of what you have experienced and see if they can give you a clue to make your little work horses sew better.

Since you've had it in to be serviced without much improvement. I'd try what Sschick posted. Since it started out fine after servicing and then got worse, it seems like it might be something loosening up.

needle inserts left right and threads from the left, could that be it? Foot up when threading? simple answers but sometimes it is the simplest thing. That side threading is the main reason I got rid of my old singers, too hard to see with my bad eyes.
