Default 301 problem

My 301 pulls to the left. I'm wondering if it is the (aftermarket) 1/4" foot or the feed dogs. I am sewing long borders and it's apparent that it is so.

I believe that the faster you go, the shorter the stitch. When I've actually taken a ruler to it, it doesn't seem to be case, but I still hold that belief in the back of my head.

Any ideas on where to start?

Is it one of those 1/4 feet with a little spring like fence that keeps the 1/4 spacing?
Dumb question, but did you try a different foot?
And I would check under the table to see if the knob that allows dropping the feed dogs is tight.

I checked that "drop feed dog" knob the last time you suggested it. It's tight.

I haven't tried another 1/4" foot. I guess I should order one.

Thanks, Joe.

Or just try any other foot and see if it pulls with that. I use one of those after market 1/4" foot on mine and haven't had that problem.

I use the 1/4" foot on my Bernina, but on my 301 I've had success putting tape to the right of the foot to mark where the fabric should go.

Three thoughts, BKay.
- does it pull when you sew slower?
 - is the bottom of the foot wearing? Pulling to one side can indicate excessive wear.
- is the pressure foot pressure too high?
