Tumbleweeds - a Judy Niemeyer pattern
#1
A friend gave me this pattern, which is a retired paper pieced pattern by Judy Niemeyer called Tumbleweeds. This friend now only makes art quilts of her own design, and I think she wanted me to suffer a little. After my last two quilts I had hoped to tackle something easier, but it wasn't meant to be.
I wasn't thrilled with the look of the pattern on the box (drab colors), but I searched online for other variations and found one that was made with rainbow colors. That one I liked! So I copied that idea and made my own version, all from stash and much of it from scraps. I've never sewn so many curves in one quilt!
Quilted free-hand on my Innova longarm. The last picture shows the quilting and the backing, but the first features Drake, my standard poodle, who always poses with new quilts. This time I didn't even have to ask, he just walked on and waited for me to take the picture.

Wow! There isn't an easy part anywhere on this quilt. Even the border is unique. Great job. The colors are perfect to showxase the design. Even the backing was a great choice for this pattern. Congratulations on a major acomplishment.
