Default Halloween Decorations

Where are you on the holiday spectrum??

I don't do much decorating for any season. I don't mind decorations I just don't like the putting away nicely part of the process...

Last year I got a long/double strand of smart patio lights. Look like round light bulbs but are plastic and LED programmable lights that can change color, do effects, dance to music -- there is both a hand held remote and an app! I put them up in my 3-season porch and have been thinking about it's getting dark enough that I could appreciate some lights outside. The controller had been misplaced and I've had to plug/unplug them by hand so haven't done it very much. But hooray! I found the controller today and turned on the yellow/orange option.

For the front I have a new string of tiny twinkle lights, again all plastic and LED and can handle being rained on even. I have a twisty set of stairs to my front door and put the lights on the ground/rockery to help guide and light the way, just as I did last year. I also figured out my porch light, which has a sensor, but also on the far side of the fixture is a black on black button that lets you turn off the sensor -- and voila! let there be light that can be turned on/off at the switch.

And that's it for me. No pumpkins, no other decorations. I'm dressed as a nice neighborly grandma type...

But up the street from me, we have two houses (several blocks apart) that are just wild with the number of mannequins and displays and such. The one house must have a 2 car garage or storage locker or something nearby! The other can probably fit their stuff in a good portion of their garage as well.

I am missing some of the things I used to have before the move. A large box of costuming stuff, some mostly plastic odds and ends. Every now and then I get wistful, but day to day, I am so much happier with less stuff.

We have a great Trick or Treat neighborhood close to us with sidewalks so I never get Treaters. I set out 3 carved (fake) pumpkins for a while. This year our son came home early so my tree is up, and the stockings are hung. That will probably be it for this year. In the past, it was full steam ahead with parties and such. DH does the outside, I do the inside. This year will be a quiet year.

I don't do much. Some years I get my Halloween dachshunds out and may still do that for tonight, but that's about it. Christmas is my decorating holiday

When the kids were home I decorated outside for Halloween and Christmas. Honestly I forgot to hang my Halloween quilt on the porch this month. I usually do that. I decorate for Christmas with a few nice things. I hang thick garland around the front door and windows with big pots of red (fake) poinsettias in jumbo white pots on the porch. Everything on the porch is white so it it looks festive.in winter and pretty in summer without much decorations. I like to show I have the spirit of the holidays but don't want the fuss.

Sometimes (if I remember and feel like it) I put quilts with holiday themes or colors on the beds and tables. I haven't put up a tree or taken the Christmas boxes out of the garage in more than 10 years. My daughter put a couple of cute ghosts on the dining room table, but that's it for Halloween.

I don't decorate for Halloween (no kids come here) but I love seeing everyone else's! Someone in town has an inflatable 3 headed dragon with glowing eyes, I love it.

We don't do a lot of decorating for Halloween, but we do a bit for Christmas. We have 2 trees up and some Grinch decorations in the downstairs. Emmaline has a tree in her room.

Last year, we purchased some Go-vee lights, but didn't get them up until a couple of weeks ago. One of our neighbors did it for us, and ours was the 10th house in the neighborhood that he did the install for. He's a great neighbor. Now that we have them up, we can use the app to change the colors for the seasons. There are several pre-programmed seasonal and themed displays, and we can also make our own.

@aashley333 they have gone way up in price since we bought ours, but Amazon has a Black Friday deal on them if you’re interested. My neighbor did all the install for me and it took him about 2.5 hours for all the lights you see. It’s not terribly difficult but you can see there were some that are pretty high off the ground on our house.

Limited-time deal: Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro, 200ft with 120 RGBIC LED Lights for Daily and Accent Lighting, 75 Scene Modes for Outdoor Decor, IP67 Waterproof, Works with Alexa, Google Assistant, Matter, White https://a.co/d/1QEFlLK
