Hi! Please let me introduce myself. I am a long time quilter. My parents were both arisans who operated a craft shop in Berea, so quilting was a natural attraction for me.
For 35 years my husband and I have worked as ordained Presbyterian ministers and have served many churches in Kentucky and Indiana. Twenty years ago we began a boarding and training kennel for dogs which has been a great success.
As we are near retirement we are trying to slow down and enjoy life a bit.
While I am a long time quilter, I am new to forums, but joined this one at the insistence of my husband!
My other interests are photography, travel , and my Jack Russell “ Boss”.
The main thing I am looking for here is some kind of group that chooses a quilt pattern and everyone makes their own and shares their tips, frustrations, and progress.
I am excited to be here and look forward to learning and making new friends!

Hi Quiltndog, great to "meet" you! There's a thread here about this year's Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt, where a lot of our members are joining. They are choosing their own fabrics and waiting for Bonnie's clues to begin on Nov. 21. The thread for this mystery quilt is Bonnie Hunter 2025/26 -- Lupine and Laughter - Quiltingboard Forums The rules and requirements are located in the 1st comment, with another clarifying comment later. This might be something you'll be interested in.
By the way, my step-mom is a Presbyterian minister. She has had churches in Iowa, Nebraska, Alaska, Kansas, and helped in other states in those areas.

Hey there Quiltndog, glad to have you join us!
I am sort of biased (I host the thread because I have so much fun) but I think the closest thing we have to what you are looking for are mystery groups, especially the Bonnie one. We have a lot of returning quilters to the project, some new people this year, and what I call the "non-sewing participants" who just enjoy hearing our frustrations and successes. I know we also have a lot of lurkers, our post views are much larger than our participants. Message boards and forums are different/new to a lot of people, and then there are people like my friend Barb (a lurker in the thread) who "just doesn't feel the need to post". Shrug, I do the boards here but I don't do Facebook or Pinterest or a bunch of other things either.
Whether there or in other threads, I'm glad you found us and you took the plunge of the first post -- good for you!!
